Simone Zuccarelli is Research Trainee for the Middle East and North Africa Centre at ISPI. He holds a Master's Degree in International Relations from the University of Milan. He is the National Coordinator of Youth Atlantic Treaty Association (YATA) Italy and he collaborates with some media outlets.
His research interests are mainly focused on United States Foreign Policy, geopolitical and security issues in the Middle East region and transatlantic relations.
Arturo Varvelli is Senior Research Fellow at ISPI and Co-Head of ISPI's Middle East and North Africa Centre, in charge of North Africa Studies. He also works as a scholar on topics such as Italian-Libyan relations, Libyan domestic and foreign politics, Italian foreign policy in the Middle East and Mediterranean region, Jihadist groups in North Africa, having published both books and articles on these subjects.
Stefano Maria Torelli is Associate Research Fellow at ISPI. His research topics include International Relations of the Middle East and North Africa, Jihadist movements and the Kurdish question. He teaches History and Institutions of the Middle East at the University IULM in Milan and is the coordinator of the summer school on the International relations of the Middle East at ISPI. Since 2013, he has been the Scientific coordinator of the "Atlante Geopolitico Treccani".
Valeria Talbot is a Senior Research Fellow and Co-Head of ISPI's Middle East and North Africa Centre, in charge of Middle East Studies. She also is a lecturer at the Master in Middle Eastern Studies in ASERI – Catholic University, and at the IULM University of Milan. She was ISPI scientific coordinator of Arab Trans, a FP7 funded research project on political and social transformations in the Arab World after the Arab uprisings in 2010-2011.
Lucia Tajoli is an Senior Associate Research Fellow at ISPI. After a BA in Political Economy at Bocconi University, she specialised in Advanced Studies in International Economic Policy Research at the Institute of World Economics in Kiel (Germany). In 1994 she was awarded a Ph.D. in Economics with a dissertation on the relationship between international trade and economic growth.
Eleonora Tafuro Ambrosetti is a Research Fellow at the Russia, Caucasus and Central Asia Centre at ISPI. Prior to that, she was a Marie Curie Fellow based at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey, where she is also pursuing her PhD. She was a visiting fellow at the Saint Peterburg State University and at the London headquarters of the ECFR. She has also worked as a junior researcher at the Brussels office of FRIDE and as a research assistant at CIDOB in Barcelona.
Gaia Taffoni is a research trainee at ISPI and a PhD. student in Political Studies at the University of Milan, NASP. She holds a BA in International Studies at University of Bologna and an MA in International Relations, European Institutions curriculum, at the University of Bologna. Her research interests focus on the European external action, European foreign policy toward the MENA region and democratisation processes.
